Introduction

 

In this class you will not only learn to play the guitar but also study the history of the instrument.  In addition, the many different styles of playing will also be discussed.  This Webquest will concentrate on the history of the classical and the electric guitar.

 

 

Task    

 

  1. Give a brief history of the classical guitar.
  2. Give a brief history of the electric guitar.
  3. Give examples of composers and performers for both instruments.
  4. Give a brief description of what an early guitar may have looked like.
  5. List 6 styles of strumming.

 

 

 

Process

 

  1. Browse through the resources listed below.
  2. Working individually find the answers to the questions listed in the Task heading.
  3. Write an essay based on your findings.
  4. Take notes from your essay  to help you create notecards from which you will give a 5minute presentation.

Conclusion

 

Through the research you have done, your knowledge of the guitar should help you to appreciate the differences between the classical and electric guitar.  Both are great instruments in their own genres.  These differences make the guitar a very versital instrument. 

 

 

Evaluation

 

You will receive 20 points for each task that you successfully complete for a total of 100 points.
